Tonia L. Johnson

CREDENTIALS: MSN, RN, RN-BC, CNOR

Tonia has an extensive career in the field of operating room nursing that consists of various roles in management, leadership and education. She been working at Children's National Medical Center (CNMC) in Washington, D.C., for several years as the professional practice specialist for perioperative services. In this role, she manages education for the operating room, pre- and postop, sterile processing, radiology nursing and ambulatory surgery centers. She oversees a team of three clinical instructors, who assist her with staff education, continuing education, professional development, new hire orientation and management of the OR RN fellowship program.

Tonia participates in various committees at CNMC and is co-chair of the hospitalwide education congress committee, which collaborates with all educators across the facility. She has presented at several national and regional nursing conferences and graduated with an MSN in nursing administration from Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, CT. Tonia was also inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and the National Honor Society. She is board-certified in nursing professional development and is known for her sense of humor.
