Shawn Crowley

CREDENTIALS: MSN, CEN, CCEMT-P, NREMT-P

After working for 15 years as a critical care EMT paramedic with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians® and nine years as an army medic, Shawn entered and completed his ADN program at the University of South Carolina Lancaster. The first two years of his nursing career were spent in the cardiovascular intensive care unit. After an internal transfer to a Level II trauma center, he was back home in emergency medicine and has never looked back.

 

Shawn received his BSN from Francis Marion University and his MSN in nursing education from Chamberlain College of Nursing. After receiving his MSN, he began teaching as a critical care nurse instructor. Taking his emergency department and teaching to the next level, he now works at the Medical University of South Carolina as the nurse practice development facilitator for the Level I trauma center. 

 

Shawn is a member of the Emergency Nurses Association and past president of a local chapter. To support the initiatives of the ENA, he teaches the trauma nursing core course. He is active in the American Heart Association as a training center faculty member teaching advanced cardiac life support, pediatric advanced life support and basic life support. Shawn still stays active with his prehospital roots and is an active international trauma life support instructor, prehospital trauma life support instructor, advanced trauma life support course facilitator, advanced medical life support instructor and emergency pediatric care instructor. 

 

Shawn also serves as a C-17 flight nurse in the Air Force Reserves. His ground duties include coordinating teaching education needs for unit flight nurses and flight medics.
