Kari Erickson, with nearly 30 years of nursing experience, has focused her career on orthopedics, bone health and critical care. As a certified orthopedic nurse with a master's in nursing with an education focus, she is the program specialist for orthopedics at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, N.D. In this role, Kari not only facilitates and maintains disease-specific certification through the Joint Commission for total hip, knee, shoulder and hip fracture programs but also has been instrumental in developing and initiating a secondary fracture prevention program and a bone health clinic. She has published on the topic of hip fractures in older adults.
Her FLS certification through the Bone Health & Osteoporosis Foundation (BHOF) and active membership in the National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses (NAON), where she participates in congress presentations and provides content expertise on NAON's Best Practice Guidelines for total hip and total knee arthroplasty, further attest to her commitment to best practices. Kari's passion for education is evident in her experience writing patient education materials and teaching in-person and online to patients and staff.
