Carl Brown

CREDENTIALS: PhD, RN, AOCN, NEA-BC, FAAN

Dr. Brown is 20-year U.S. Army veteran and long-time oncology nurse and nurse executive who focuses on stem-cell transplants, ambulatory outpatient chemotherapy infusion and evidence-based practice. He has conducted and published numerous studies in cancer nursing research, mostly in the areas of symptom management. He received his BSN from the University of Louisville, his MSN as an oncology advanced practice nurse from the University of Pennsylvania and earned his PhD, with a focus in cancer research, at the University of Utah. He possesses board certification as a nurse executive advanced (NEA-BC), as an advance oncology certified nurse (AOCN) and holds the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) chemotherapy/biotherapy course qualification. Dr. Brown is a past president of ONS and the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation. He served one term—as one of only a few nurses—on the Institute of Medicine National Cancer Policy Forum and is a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN).
