Mary Lawson

Mary has 20 years of critical care experience with a focus on cardiac surgery patient care at the bedside and as a clinical educator. She received her BSN in 2003 from the University of Phoenix. In February, Mary graduated from Walden University’s AGACNP program and is a board-certified ACNP through AACN and ANCC.

In 2006, Mary accepted a clinical educator position in Monterey, CA, which gave her the opportunity to lead the design and education structure of the hospital’s new open-heart program. After a successful opening of the Monterey program, she was recruited in 2013 by Castle Medical Center in Hawaii to develop cardiac surgery education and oversight for a new cardiac surgery program. Her role in both facilities included lectures, bedside education and mentoring on various aspects of critical care, cardiac surgery and cardiac surgery advanced life support (CALS) protocols in ICU and step-down floors. Mary is a continuing education provider with the California Board of Registered Nurses and a content reviewer for the AACN. She currently works as a trauma RN at Natividad Medical Center, a Level II Trauma Center in Salinas, CA, while pursing ACNP opportunities.
