Reina Del Rio


Reina has nearly 30 years of experience in critical-care nursing, most of it working in cardiac surgery ICU recovery and heart transplant ICU recovery. She earned her nursing baccalaureate degree at the University of Texas as well as a master’s degree in business administration with a focus on human resource management. She has completed the course requirements for her Doctorate in Nursing Education. She is currently conducting research on heart failure patients and holds certifications in adult critical care nursing and nursing professional development and is a current member of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) and the Association of Nursing Professional Development (ANPD).

Her experience includes working as a staff RN in cardiac surgery recovery units, to include heart transplant recovery as a travel RN across the U.S. for several years. Over the past 10 years, Reina has continued to practice part time as a bedside RN in a cardiac surgery ICU at a large academic health center in Upstate New York while providing the training and continuing education needs of RNs new to an ICU or ED environment at the same institution. In her role as an educator, she has successfully planned several nursing conferences.
