Elizabeth A. Paton


Beth has almost 20 years of experience in Pediatric Nursing. She received her BSN in 1992, and in 1999 received her MSN as a Family Nurse Practitioner and became certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Beth worked in a Pediatric Emergency Department for 16 years, serving as a staff nurse, nurse educator, charge nurse and transport nurse on the hospital flight team. She was also a nurse at a Level I Trauma Center on a per diem basis for six years. Beth has given lectures on various pediatric topics both locally and nationally for over ten years, including national conferences. She is a qualified instructor for PALS, ACLS, BTLS and PBTLS, and is a Certified Emergency Nurse and Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse. Beth has served as the president of her local chapter of the ENA and is active in her state chapter as well. She is currently employed by Pediatric Surgical Group as an NP and moonlights at local Urgent Care Centers for Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN. Beth has also published several articles related to Pediatric Emergency Medicine in peer-reviewed journals and regularly participates in clinical research projects. Her years of experience in the Emergency Department have given her many stories of real-life cases of common—and some uncommon—pediatric diagnoses.
