Josiane Hickson

CREDENTIALS: EdD, MA, BSN, RN-BC, NE-BC

Josiane Hickson graduated from Teachers College, Columbia University, with both her Masters in Nursing Administration in 2008, and Doctorate of Education in Nursing in 2012. As an academic registered nurse, she has been recognized for excellence in nursing education and teaching at every level of her training.

Dr. Hickson is Board-Certified in Gerontological Nursing and Nursing Administration. She is a long-standing member of the American Heart Association, American Association of Heart Failure Nurses, Sigma Theta Tau, Association for Nursing Professional Development and Emergency Nurses Association. In 2013, Dr. Hickson published her research work in the Journal of Nursing Administration.

Dr. Hickson is the Nursing Director of Emergency Services at St. John’s Riverside Hospital in New York. Additionally, she is an adjunct professor at Columbia University and Mercy College. Her clinically focused specialties are critical care of adults and pediatrics and emergency nursing of adults and pediatrics. Her most noteworthy contribution was the implementation of the New Graduate Orientation Program for Nurses in the emergency department, while employed at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx. She has made significant contributions in the areas of undergraduate and graduate nursing education through leadership, empowerment and professional development.
