Monica Farnsworth

CREDENTIALS: MS, RN

Monica has over 20 years of critical-care experience in community hospitals and major medical centers. She obtained her MS in nursing from Winona State University in Winona, MN. She has also trained in simulation at the Center for Medical Simulation in Boston, MA. As an educator, she oversaw the Fundamentals of Critical Care Nursing (FCCN) course for the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM). While working in a community setting, she learned about multiple disease entities and management. Working in major medical center CCU with complex cardiovascular patients instilled a love of cardiovascular nursing for Monica. She has spent nearly 15 years as a critical-care educator. In this role, she taught in critical-care orientation programs and worked with staff in critical-care units to develop their expertise in device management. Monica also taught and helped develop a curriculum for transplant care. One of her passions was working with preceptors to develop staff RN teaching and communication skills. She has coordinated and taught departmental programs such as 12-Lead ECG. She is passionate about enhancing the role of critical-care nurses and promoting safe patient care.
