Jason Robertson

CREDENTIALS: MSN, RN, CCRN, CPEN, CEN

Jason has dedicated his career to pediatric and adult critical care and emergency nursing, working for nearly 15 years in clinical, educational and leadership capacities. While he is currently the director of emergency services for St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, MO, Jason’s past leadership roles include nurse manager of the cardiovascular intensive care unit and centralized telemetry monitoring unit at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK; nurse manager of the emergency department, Level 1 trauma center, and Pediatric Acute Wound and Sedation (PAWS) Clinic at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO; manager of the diabetes education program at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO; and nurse manager of the cancer treatment center at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, KS.

Clinically, Jason has worked as a staff nurse, charge nurse and clinical education specialist in adult and pediatric emergency departments and critical care units. For three years, he served as assistant professor and department chair of accelerated BSN studies at MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, KS, where he taught undergraduate and graduate courses in pathophysiology, advanced pathophysiology, pharmacology, advanced pharmacology, medical-surgical nursing, pediatric nursing, critical care nursing, nursing education and nursing leadership. His publications related to incivility in nursing education, as well as the use of high-fidelity simulation in undergraduate and graduate nursing curricula, appear in Nursing Education Perspectives and Education Research Journal, respectively.
