Amanda Chaney

CREDENTIALS: MSN, ARNP, FNP-BC

Amanda Chaney has over 15 years of clinical experience in caring for the acute care patient. In her current role, she cares for liver transplant patients as well as patients suffering from liver disease. She has developed several educational programs on nursing practice, including topics of bedside skills for the medical-surgical nurse, sepsis, care of the liver transplant patient, precepting and mentoring techniques and skills, nutrition considerations for the hospitalized patient and many others. She holds academic appointment at Mayo Clinic as an Instructor of Medicine, College of Medicine.

Amanda has been a successful author of several manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals and is an avid researcher. She aims to conduct her research in a way that is directly applicable to the patient and to incorporate new knowledge to improve patient outcomes. She serves as a journal reviewer for several nursing journals and has been an abstract reviewer for the International Transplant Nurses Society (ITNS) for its annual conferences. Amanda is an active member of several professional societies. She is on the board of directors on the Leadership Development, Succession and Nominations Committee of Sigma Theta Tau International, Lambda Rho-at-Large Chapter.

Amanda has received several awards and recognition for her nursing practice. She is involved in several quality improvement projects for patient care and building revenue and organization to the advance practice nurse role. She is founder of an aspiring leader and professional development group, helping others to attain leadership, publishing and presenting skills to further their careers. She was recently named as one of 19 NPs across the country to be chosen as an American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) Future Leader. 

Amanda has a passion for education and teaching. Over the years, she has developed and presented nursing and medicine lectures both regionally and nationally. Attendees at her seminars frequently comment on her presenting style as poised and confident. She has a unique ability to simplify frequently confusing medical topics. She enjoys helping others learn the field and art of nursing so that patients are given the best care.
