Course Description

This program will focus on discussion of liability issues faced by the advanced practice nurse, including scope of practice issues for practitioners and business owners and strategies for risk management. Opportunities for entrepreneurial practice, including business development for start-up, marketing, management of physician involvement and financial growth will be presented. Participants will learn business strategies such as choosing a financial model, market analysis and writing a successful business plan.

Program Learning Outcomes

This program prepares the learner to:

  • Specify limitations, obstacles and successes of an entrepreneurial and independent advanced practice nurse business model.
  • Recognize malpractice terminology involving advanced practice nurses.
  • Analyze and interpret situations that could result in malpractice suits against the advanced practice nurse.

Agenda

Sign-in begins at 7:30 am. Eachday includes a one-hour lunch (on your own), as well as a morning and afternoon break of 15 minutes each. The order of lectures presented and break times may vary according to speaker preference.
