Janis has nearly 20 years of experience in Critical Care nursing in a combined medical, surgical and cardiac ICU. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland with a Master’s Degree in Trauma, Critical Care and Emergency Nursing. Experiences included management of Multitruama patients, Cardiac ICU patients, and Medical ICU patients. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, Phi Theta Kappa, and the Association for Critical Care Nurses (AACN). She is now an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Frederick Community College and continues to work in the acute care setting. Janis has received an award from the Organ Procurement Organization in Maryland for increasing organ/tissue donation rates in her community hospital to those rates of University hospitals. She is an advanced practice nurse and certified in critical care nursing.
